How to Protect Yourself

Legitimate charities will always provide:

A branded ID card

A registration number

A clear charity name
You can verify a charity on the Charity Commission website.

Scammers use urgency to get quick payments.
You are never required to donate at the door.

Never give:

Bank details

Your full name

Your signature

Access to your home

If unsure, keep the door closed and speak through:

A door chain

A doorbell camera

A window

If someone appears aggressive, refuses to show ID, or will not leave when asked:

Call 999 (if in immediate danger)

Call 101 (to report suspicious door‑to‑door activity)
